My ReviewI feel this book is a humorous story that shows the importance of friendships between different animals. Although this book might not be great for independent young readers, it is a great book to read out loud to students. Leo Lionni is known for having great novels but also great and creative illustrations. They are brightly colored illustrations that fill each of the pages so that students are easily drawn to the story.

This book is useful when teaching...students a science lesson about the animals and which animals hatch from eggs. Students can also learn to be descriptive when talking about the differences between “chickens” and “alligators.”
