Shelby Wetzel's Review:
I would give this book a 5-star rating. I thought it was creative and relatable for children. Almost all children have imaginary friends and this gives them an imagination of how they got that imaginary friend. The illustrations describe the text perfectly, and the details are helpful to truly picture what is going on in the story. This is a great book for all ages!

How to Use it in the Classroom:
A way that this book could be useful when teaching is during a creative writing lesson. The topic could be about imaginary friends and the teacher could read this story at the beginning of the lesson and then the students have to come up with their own imaginary character and write their own short story about it.
This story could also be useful for teaching when explaining a lesson about fitting in or finding where you belong. Students struggle with finding their place in the world and they sometimes feel excluded. This book can help by showing that you have to keep embracing life and chasing after the things you want. |
