A story about crazy, funky letters that climb up a tree and then fall out.
Summary of Professional Reviews:
Unlike the typical alphabet book with a single letter on a page with accompanying objects, this book portrays all the letters of the alphabet as actors in a scene. Each letters climbs toward the top of the tree only to tumble down again as the tree bends because of their weight. There are orange and pink bubbles outlining each page, thus drawing attention to the book. The letters appear as a different design on each page spread. They are large and wide, visible by children in a group setting.
Review by Kim Beers...
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a colorful, jazzy book about the alphabet. It allows the students to recognize the letters in alphabetical order in a fun way. The book starts by having the lower-case letters climbing up a tree. The tree then falls, along with the letters. The capital letters than help them up. During the book the words rhyme and the pictures are very colorful. It is a great spin on using the alphabet.
This book would be useful when teaching...
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom can be used when teaching students the alphabet. The rhyming of the letters will get the students interested in learning. While reading, the teacher could take each letter as it climbs up the tree and ask them what sound each letter makes.
