Summary of Professional Reviews: Horn Book gives this book a 1. Horn Book thinks that this is a well-paced book that has great audience interaction. Hornbook says, “Clean, sparely designed pages focus attention on the simply drawn but wildly expressive (and emotive) pigeon.”
Review by Samantha Formato: This book is great for beginner readers. It is a fun book that calls for a lot of reader interaction. It has simple illustrations and text, but does a great job at expressing the pigeon’s emotions. This book will keep children engaged by the comical text and by having them answer questions. Mo Willems does a great job at making simple text very fun.
This book would be useful when teaching… This book has simple text and is very easy to understand. This book would be great to read in an elementary education classroom. You could read this book at circle time to get all of your students engaged and to get them all to interact with the text. The questions the author asks the readers is a great way to keep your students attention and to get them excited about reading.
