Summary: Gossie is a little gosling that has a pair of red boots that she wears all day everyday. Gossie is very sad one day when he finds out that his red boots go missing.
Summary of Professional Reviews: Gossie is a little yellow gosling that has a problem when she looses his favorite bright red boots. One day, when the boots go missing, Gossie goes out to find them on Gertie's feet. This book is a great little board book for young children and toddlers. The connection that is made with Gossie and her red boots draws the reader in and keeps the book going along. According to the CLCD (Kirkus review), the illustrations "capture the quaint, whimsical charm of the story." Overall, this is a great story that goes straight to the hearts of the readers.
Review by Katie Henderson: This is a lovely little book to read to young children many different times. The repetition of where Gossie wears her bright red boots shows the reader how important these boots are to her. When her boots go missing, I feel bad for her. Gossie has a short and whimsical story line to it that correlates very much to its pictures. The illustrations are done very well. While they are simple, they make a great impact on the book. Dunrea does a fabulous job at showing the true emotion of the gosling when she looses her boots. Overall, I think this is a great story.
This book would be useful when teaching...children about colors. This would be a great book to read to toddlers or pre schoolers to introduce the color red. "Red" is a word that is mentioned on nearly every page. Every time the word "red" is mentioned, the students can point out what is red on the page. Also, this can be a story to show younger children that it is okay to share with others.
