The illustrations accompany the expressions and emotions of animals. There is repetition in some of the lines in the story. The dialogue of the book is not put into quotations but rather changes font colors to discriminate what animals say.

I Want My Hat Back is a great book. The illustrations accompany the text and allows the reader to visualize events in the book. There are many repetitive phrases which facilitates to the readers ability to learn the words. The beginning lines of the book aldo allows the reader to know what is going to be taking place.
This book would be useful when teaching:
I Want My Hat Back could be used to teach children about various animals in the story. The teacher could ask the students if the animals would really behave and get along like they do in the story. This could lead into a great class discussion about animals.
