This informative book gave a detailed look into the life of Polar Bears. The Main text gave a lot of information while the related flowing facts around it were just as informative. The beautiful oil paintings show off the majesty of the polar bear.
Review by Janelouise Fuscellaro:
This story about polar bears is beautiful and Informative just as every review I have read has said. I think tying in little facts within the text was genius. The little facts related and mixed in well with he story. The descriptions Davies gave are all important to understanding the polar bear even if the animal may come off scary to students, such as when it eats the Seal. One thing I really liked was when the story talked about global warming and how children can help the polar bears. Lastly, the Index at the end, helping students to find different facts, was a perfect ending page.
This book would be useful when teaching…
The story of the Ice Bear would be helpful for students when learning about animals. This story would be perfect for a research assignment for third for fourth grade. Where students can choose an animal, in this situation the polar bear, and have to pick facts out from the story. For a younger grade, this story would be great to read with the class when learning about the polar bear. The facts are informative for any age group.
