Review by Jane Fuscellaro:
Just A Minute was a clever book that teaches students to count to ten, not only in English but in Spanish. It was a great little way for kindergartens to learn counting while reading. I liked how the book mixed two cultures together so well also. I think for a skeleton, Mr. Calevera was not too scary for children.
This book would be useful when teaching…
Just A Minute would be great for students who are learning or who can count to ten. This is relate well to students who speak Spanish at home, this little bit of Spanish culture in the classroom would be comforting to them. If a child speaks Spanish at home, he/she may be more familiar counting to 10 in Spanish. Therefore this book could help bridge that gap from Spanish numbers to English.
