Summary of Professional Reviews:
Young children will really love this book because they will be able to relate to Trixie's problem of not being able to express themselves. The pictures correspond with the story and help tell the story brilliantly. Everyone will be able to relate to this story whether it is an adult who could relate to the parents perspective of not knowing what is wrong or the child's perspective of crying because she cannot express herself to tell her dad that he put her favorite toy in the washing machine.
Review by Anthony Germani:
I believe that this book is excellent because it relates to audiences of all ages. Parents as well as children can relate to this book. The illustrations in this book of the people in the neighborhood set against a black and white background is excellent. It really draws attention to the characters and helps the story flow.
This book would be useful when teaching
This would be a great story to use during circle time and have every student bring in their favorite toy and talk about it. This would be an excellent exercise to do with young children because they are very passionate about their favorite toys and will give you great explanations on why they love that toy. This would be great to do at the beginning of the school year to get to know your students better.
