Review by Kim Beers...
A mother and her son go grocery shopping. Annoyed that it is taking long, the son begins to throw things. The mom understands how her son feels so she begins to comfort him and they pick up the items he threw. The author used a plot children can relate too. It also used rhyming words to make it more fun. The pictures detail how the llama is feeling throughout the book. The way the author allows the children and parents recognize themselves in the plot draws attention to the audience.
This book would be useful when teaching...
Llama Llama Mad at Mama can allow students to explore items at stores. The teacher can have students create a list of items and bring in circular ads, for grocery stores, for the students to look at and search for the items they previously listed.
