Professional Review: The HORN Book Rating system rated this book a 3 and said the illustrations were spirited with capturing the busy preschool room. Other reviewers said the illustrations were able to capture the characters emotions and the story is warm and sensitive which would be perfect for a up-and-coming preschooler who has fears about starting school .
My Review: The book has a very great message and I like how sensitive it is throughout the whole book. It is a charming book that allows the reader to feel emotion while reading. It is relatable to many people, especially myself, since I didn't want to leave my mom when I had to go to school. The author's purpose was probably to make others aware that this is a feeling many people get and it is alright to feel that way at first. It paints a great picture for how fun preschool is.
How to Use in the classroom: I think this book is perfect for the first day of preschool. Almost every preschool child is anxious about leaving their parents and going into a strange building full of people they don't know. The book allows children to realize they aren't the only one who is afraid of changes and that preschool is actually a lot of fun. This book introduces rhyming, which could be used for a lesson on rhyming and coming up with rhymes.
