Review by Christine Grasser: I really like how each character picked such positive traits of the other character to want to be like and how the characters “painted” the trait on themselves. The language is simple and repetitive, and the text is complemented by the pictures. I thought it was inventive of the author to use items such as socks or long pants legs to illustrate “short” and “long”. The text also uses capitalized words to add emphasis to what the character is saying. The pictures are mostly pastel colors and I feel this adds to the playfulness that is depicted in the text and the pictures.
This book would be useful when teaching…
Me and You can be a great introduction for high frequency words such as “you”, “me” or “look”. This would also be helpful book to introduce a lesson on how everyone has their own traits and that it’s good to be different.
