Review by Stephanie Kuchavik: This is a fantastic book that allows children to be interactive through the adventure of mixing colors together. After colors are mixed together, the author doesn’t necessarily explain the new result of the color but it allows for the children to make their own interpretation. The illustrations are so realistic that you feel as though if you were to touch it, you would get paint on your hands. This book would be useful when teaching children the ages between two and six. -This book could be utilized when exploring the elements of mixing colors together and getting a new result (math/science). -You could create a mini lesson of opposites and light verses dark. White verses Black. When you add white to a color it becomes lighter and when black is added to a color it becomes darker. -Throughout this book it also helps children to learn directions, new vocabulary and use specific touches (smudging, rub gently, shake the book, tilt to the right, push down really hard). |
