Horn Book or Kirkus Reviews rating: Horn (3)
Summary: David is a boy who misbehaves constantly in the book and is constantly being told, "No David!"
Summary of Professional Reviews: As mentioned in the Horn Book Review, the word "no" is constantly being heard by a toddler. The word no is most prominent and is helping David to continually know that he is doing something wrong. The up-close pictures of David flooding the bathtub and jumping on the bed shows his high energy. His mother reassuring him that she loves him at the end is a great point for the readers to see.
Review by Ranim Sankari: This book is a marvelous story about relating to a normal child's life at the age range from birth to ten. As mentioned in the Horn Book Review, the word no is said numerous times throughout the day to children. Not only can they relate to this but they can also find humor in how much David is constantly getting in trouble for misbehaving. The way the pictures are portrayed with such excitement and enthusiasm, it really shows the reader the kind of personality David acquires. The repetition of the word no is a helpful way of children memorizing the book and keep their attention on the story. I think the author did a great job with the ending because of the age range this book is targeted for. It was perfect and very empathetic.
This book would be useful when teaching…
