Horn Book or Kirkus Reviews rating: 2
Summary: Two birds fly through the forest on a snowy day and notice that two of the same thing are not always identical.
Summary of Professional Reviews: Hornbook gave this book a rating of 2. They appreciated the color scheme that was used in the illustrations. The colors were subtle and allowed the readers to spot more objects. They also liked the rhyming text that invited listeners to "look carefully at the pictures to find similarities and differences between things."
Review by Kitty Anthony: I enjoyed the rhyming that this author used. It made the book very friendly, simple, and easy to follow along with. The author used different animals and objects that one would typically find in the forest and gave the readers a chance to identify differences between two similar objects. The illustrations also used colors that were subtle enough so that the readers could easily spot the similarities and differences.
This book would be useful when teaching…
I believe that this book would be useful when first introducing students to the concepts of "similar" and "different". Teachers can use this book and while reading and students can point out the differences they find on each page. To reinforce the concept the students could also do an activity where they identify two objects that are exactly alike and the ones that are similar but slightly different.
