She needs to find a farm in order to get pigs so she looks up a farm in the yellow pages. She finds a farm called : Old MacDonald’s farm, and sets off instantly. On her way she writes “ Surrender Piggies in the sky” with her broom in hopes to warn her prey but they are to smart for the witch.
Summary of Professional Reviews: According to Horn book Reviews, Piggie Pie received a high rating of a 2. The witch is mentioned in the review as well in search of her ingredients for her “ Piggie Pie”. The review emphasizes on the humorous illustrations that inform the reader of the correct ingredients the witch needs. It also states that “ young readers will laugh at the conclusion in which a character from another story is introduced: the wold from the The Three Little Pigs”.
Review by Sasha Ishak: Piggie Pie is a humorous picture book full of surprises. The witch in the book is extremely hungry and wants Piggie Pie. She goes to a farm in search of pigs to complete her recipe. But she makes a huge mistake by writing in the sky, warning the piggies. The emotions in this book portrayed by the witch allow the reader to fully emerge in the text. The language that is used is extremely funny and will definitely make any one laugh regardless of age. The witch has a problem when she can’t get the pigs and this leads to a shocking ending with the wolf from The Three Little Pigs. The illustrations are odd but extremely interesting, and even a little scary. They are not great but they fit the atmosphere of the book and this is extremely important. They seem as though they are smudged, and this makes it hard to notice details in them. This can cause children to not enjoy the book because the illustrations are hard to see at times. The format of the book and where the text is placed is well though out and very organized. Overall this book is great to introduce around Halloween since it is a bit scary, well for me at-least. But it can be very enjoyable especially for young readers.

- Piggie Pie can be used in a Language Arts lesson to teach students about Repetition and Alliteration. These two concepts can be shown in the book as examples then extended in a lesson. After introducing the elements the teacher can read the story to the students as a read aloud then have them create their own so that they know what they have to include in their own stories.
- Another thing that the teacher can do with this book is have the students pick out the adjectives, since the author uses a great deal in the book. After the students have picked out the adjectives, he/she can have the students great a worksheet with the text on it, and see if they can fill in their own adjectives where the author has included hers.
