Review by Alicia Watson: Rosa is a wonderful book portraying the strength and courage Rosa Parks demonstrated during the civil rights movement. The written texts helps to demonstrate the importance of her actions and strongly connects to the illustrations through the use of both dark and bright colors. Collier's use of watercolors within her illustrations helps to convey a message of strength and the light to equality. This would be a wonderful addition to a classroom because of the importance of incorporating history within several learning objectives throughout the year.
