Review by Alexis: Even though the illustrations use very little color on each page, the illustrations are still humorous and add to the action in the text. The story is very original and Scotton does a wonderful job of inviting the reader to join Splat on his first day of school.
This book would be useful when teaching… This book would be useful to read to students on the first day of school. Everyone is nervous on their first day of school, even Splat the Cat! It would be good to use as a read aloud to calm the fears of many of the students and help to create a bond between the students and the teacher.
