Review by Christine Grasser: Drew Daywalt created a great story about Duncan’s crayons, and uses an individual voice for each color. Daywalt uses a combination of print, capitalized letters, and underlining which causes the reader to add emphasis while reading the story out loud. Jeffers illustrations make a bold addition to the text print, and he adds contrasting colors with each crayon
This book would be useful when teaching…
This is a good book for early readers. I would use this book in a read aloud group and discuss how each crayon has its own “voice” so to speak and how the story develops with each crayon.
