Shelby Wetzel's Review:
I think that this book brings up a fantastic topic about adoption. This book illustrates the differences in families all throughout the world. This book would be a great resource for any student that feels left out, distant, or different than the other people around them. The pictures in this book by Rosalind Beardshaw are phenomenal simple paintings that show the lifestyle and the issues that this kangaroo and lamb go through.

How to Use it in the Classroom:
This book could be used in the classroom as a resource for students going through adoption specifically. This book is a perfect example of adoption and a few steps that go along with it. This book could also be used when teaching students, a lesson on belonging and “fitting in”. Although the students think that they do not fit in with the people around them, the main fact is to focus on the positive things about yourself (like lamb does) and embrace them. This book would be a great book to do a lesson on why people are different and have the students write a poem about why they are different from someone in their family.
