Summary of Professional Reviews: Mary Quattlebaum says Rhythmical and vivid, Melmed's language calls to mind the classic fairy tales, which she says she loved as a kid. In this story, an elderly couple's yearning for a child is fulfilled when twelve tiny babies appear after a moonlit rain. While N. Robertson agrees saying that the beautiful illustrations enhance the touching story.
Review by Katie: Rainbabies is filled with large colorful illustrations that help bring the story to life. Melmed uses a lot of adjectives to help the reader to picture the story in their imaginations. They finally have a child of their own and the story ends with a happy ending like every fairytale.
The Rainbabies can be useful when teaching about fairytales and how to create their own stories.
