Summary of Professional ReviewsHorn Book describes Despereaux Tilling as not like the other mice in the castle. He's smaller than average, likes to read books, and is in love with a human being: Princess Pea. When a rat and a young servant kidnap the princess, Despereaux, armed with a needle and a spool of thread, makes a daring rescue. Framing the book with the conventions of a Victorian novel, DiCamillo tells an engaging tale.

My ReviewThis chapter book is written in a very impacting way. Although it may not seem it because the main character is a sweet little mouse, but this story is actually a very heroic one. By the end, it gives the reader a sense of hope for themselves because it is so up lifting. This novel is also very action packed and keeps the reader engaged throughout each of the chapters.
