The book incorporates the use of educational themes, such as: counting the days that are in one week, naming food items, stating the life-stages of a butterfly, etc. It shows the caterpillars journey by traveling through foods that are boldly and colorful illustrated. I enjoy reading this book just as much as looking at the pictures. The pictures are brightly colored and intriguing. Following along with the caterpillar through the different days and the different foods he eats keeps my interest until the end of the book. What I found to be the most intriguing point in the book is the actual holes, where the caterpillar has "eaten" out of the food, so the readers can feel and interact with the book. |
This book would be useful when teaching children about many different educational things. One main focus teaching aspect I would focus on is the life cycle of a caterpillar into a butterfly. We see the caterpillar hatch from an egg, eat a lot of food before making his cocoon which then transforms him into a beautiful butterfly.
