Summary
When a tiny fish comes into view wearing a little hat that happens to fit him perfectly, trouble could be following close behind. So it's a good thing that the enormous fish he took the hat from won't wake up. And even if he does, it's not like he'll ever know who took it...
Summary of Professional Reviews
Horn Book Guide describes the character of this book as a guilty-looking little fish. This fish has taken a tiny bowler from the head of a large sleeping fish, while explaining to the reader why he won't be caught. Every claim the fish makes is belied by the pictures. Telling almost the whole story through subtle movements. Klassen lets readers in on this darkly hilarious joke.
My Review
Jon Klassen did an amazing job with this story. It surprised me in many ways because it is such a simple story with large illustrations that only have subtle changes each page. Although the changes are subtle, the reader knows exactly what is happening and how the characters are reacting. I also love the fact that this story is very open for interpretation of what happens at the very end.
