Summary of Professional Reviews:Review by Kimberly Jones:

According to the Horn Book review this book is about a tiny fish that steals a hat from a big fish. Throughout the book the tiny fish explains why he won't be caught. However, the pictures tell us a different story. The story is told of subtle movements, but "Klassen lets readers in on this darkly hilarious joke." Klassen did a great job telling the story through his words and then telling another story through his pictures. I thought telling two separate stories keeps the readers engaged in following along with the storyline. The pictures were large and easily seen, even though there were not much change in the pictures itself, Klassen was able to allow his pictures enrich the story even more. |
This book would be useful when teaching children about sharing and the importance of not stealing from others. This book could also be used when teaching about ocean animals.
