Summary: This book is about a Bear who notices winter is coming and decides to tell snail. Yet, snail also notices a sign of winter but before she decides to sleep, she tells her animal friend, skunk. This book goes on about each animal telling another animal as they all notice different signs of the winter.
Summary of Professional Reviews: When Bear smells winter in the air, she decides to tell Snail before she goes off into hibernation. Once snail finds out, she wants to tell Skunk! Skunk tells Woodchuck about winter approaching. Woodchuck tells Ladybug and Ladybug goes to tell Bear not knowing that she already knows it's winter. Once ladybug goes to tell Bear that it is time to sleep, she realizes that Bear is already asleep!
Review by Ranim Sankari: I felt like this story was such a great way to teach children about the different signs of winter. This can be read around when winter is starting to approach and students can relate the signs of winter stated in the book to what is actually going on to the weather around them. The ongoing process of an animal telling another animal is a very neat way to design the format of the written text. It is an interesting way to keep the child thinking of what animal may come next. The pictures are also very neat and unique. What really captured my attention is how large the pictures are and how they fit to the whole page whereas the text only takes a small part of the pages.
This book would be useful when teaching…

This book would be useful when teaching…
- This book can be used during a language arts lesson about the different seasons we have. When the lesson is focused on winter, this book can be read as an introduction to the lesson.
- Another great educational focus that this book has is the different kinds of animals. This book can also be a great introduction to a lesson about learning about the different kinds of animals.
