This book starts out with a tiny bug who runs into a cat who joins him and then they continue to bump into other animals as they walk along until they bump into a house and when nobody answers they just go in. They help themselves to food and when they find a bed they all climb in and end up having a bear and a boy join them to make ten new friends the bug made.
Summary of Professional Reviews:
After being reviewed by Ilene Cooper, this book is said to make children enjoy the tale of the little bug who goes for a walk and ends up meeting a bunch of new friends. The watercolored pictures that are outlined in pen are very well done and add the sillyness to the characters that the children will enjoy. The songlike rhyme only adds to the excitement seen. As stated by the Kirkus Reveiws, the jaunty, delicate pictures are a good match in this book.
Review by Ashley:
This is an exciting book that allows children to follow the journey of a little bug who meets some new friends. The plot will have the children predicting what animal he meets next and how it all will end. The finely crafted pictures on every page really bring the book to life. The rhyming nature will have children wondering what will come next. For example, A tiny bug went for a walk. He met a cat and stopped to talk (pg. 1).
This book would be useful when teaching...
Tumble Bumble would be a good book for teachers to help children with rhyming and counting. On each page the little bug meets a new friend with a rhyme. At the end when all of the animal friends are laying in the bed two more friends join to make a counting total of ten, which children can count.
