Summary: A young boy shares with his classmates the many things he wants to be when he grows up.
Summary of Professional Reviews: Hornbook gave this book a rating of 3. This is the first children's book Al Yankovik has released. They compliment him on how his "toe-tapping salute to childhood curiosity features illustrations that are as warm as they are wacky. "
Review by Kitty Anthony: An eight year old boy cannot wait to present to his class and his teacher what he wants to be when he is older. What is presented is a variety of silly careers accompanied by creative, colorful illustrations that help explain his wacky career choices. Yankovik does a wonderful job expressing out of the ordinary jobs that the eight year old wishes to have as an adult. This will have children thinking that their career choices are boring compared to the ones in this book. It also reminds children that it is okay not to know what they want to be at such a young age.
This book would be useful when teaching…
This would be a good book to read when the school or class is having some type of career day. This could be a wonderful introduction to the day. This will get the children using their imaginations and thinking about what kind of silly or wacky jobs they wish to have. Teachers can have the students express their ideas by drawing pictures or writing a short story depending on the grade level.
